Factice

I go to a lot of LARPs, and I usually have a unique costume for each one because I essentially live for the costume making. I know a lot of people who do the same, but they don't necessarily have the time or money to make a unique costume each time, or simply can't bear to wear a costume only once. With this in mind, I have been thinking about ways to make costumes affordable and multi-use to allow to create different characters with the same pieces. A few years ago I made a reversible corset for this purpose, with one side black and the other a weathered brown, which served for a vampire or for a forest witch, and friends have told me I could continue in that logic to create versatile costume pieces that you cvan mix and match to create different characters.

So here was my thinking. A costume is usually made up of a base layer in fabric, a dress or a shirt and trousers. These can be very simple and in a plain color. Then you dress this up with a belt, corset, vest, harness or any other layer. Finally, you add accessories: armor, hats, pouches, weapons, etc. You can add many of these for a rich character, or few and weather-beaten ones for a poorer character. So the formula is simple enough, and the complexity usually depends on how much you procrastinate on putting your costume together (or is that just me?...)

So based on this, I offer to my fellow LARP, Ren faire, or History bounding friends: my new line of affordable, versatile costume pieces that are made for layering in all sorts of ways! Here are some elements, but I'm still working on more:

Layer 1: Shae Dress, Aponia Dress, Firdan Tunic, Killick Shirt

Layer 2: Marie Corset, Philipa Harness, Hestia Cincher Belt

Layer 3: Gorget
